Sara Van Belle (°20/09/1975) is a political scientist and cultural anthropologist, with a PhD in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine<http://www.publichealth.itg.be/2014/06/03/congratulations-sara/>.  She has been active in development and health  policy, implementation, evaluation and research in LMIC for almost 15 years. Her expertise is in governance and accountability, organizational and institutional development, capacity building, health systems and sexual and reproductive health. She is interested in evaluation methodology ­ specifically theory-driven evaluation, realist evaluation and inquiry, on which she has published several papers.

Sara has experience in 11 African countries, and lived in Senegal. She worked for multilateral and bilateral aid agencies as well as for INGOs. She was, amongst others, an M&E officer at UNFPA West Africa Office, managing sexual and reproductive health programmes on the Africa team for Marie Stopes International and a senior governance expert at BTC.

She was a research fellow and lecturer at the faculties of public health and policy of the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium (ITM) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), teaching on social sciences for health, qualitative research methods, organizational performance and Œsoftware¹ aspects of health care organizational development. Currently she is part time consultant and part time postdoctoral fellow in the health policy unit, department of public health at ITM.
Sara is also linked to IOB as  post-doctoral researcher.
