Het Instituut voor Ontwikkelingsbeleid en-beheer (IOB) van de Universiteit Anwerpen organiseert een reeks seminaries doorheen het academisch jaar. In het kader van de Master of Development Evaluation and Management vond er een gastlezing plaats door Jos Vaessen (UNESCO) en Dominique de Crombrugghe (Bijzondere Evaluator, ontwikkelingssamenwerking, FOD Buitenlandse zaken). Het seminarie werd ook opengesteld voor het VEP-publiek. De voertaal is Engels.

The landscape of evaluation in the UN: commonalities, differences and challenges (Jos Vaessen)
Jos Vaessen (Ph.D. Maastricht University) is Principal Evaluation Specialist at the Internal Oversight Service of UNESCO in Paris and lecturer at Maastricht University. After completing his M.Sc. in 1997 (Wageningen University) and prior to starting his current position at UNESCO in 2011, he has been involved in research, teaching and evaluation activities in the field of international development at Antwerp University and, more recently, Maastricht University. Over the last fifteen years or so, he has worked for several multilateral and bilateral international organizations (e.g. Global Environment Facility, World Bank, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs) mostly on evaluation-related assignments.

Peer reviews of evaluation functions in the UN system: getting evaluation sharper in the picture (Dominique de Crombrugghe)
Dominique de Crombrugghe (Brugge, 1951) has held the office of Special Evaluator of the Belgian international cooperation at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the past 10 years. He holds a degree in law from the KULeuven (1975). He practiced law for about 20 years, dealing under more with legal aspects of transfer of technologies and with comparative law in the field of not-for-profit organisations. Next to his involvement with associations and foundations, he became a freelance evaluator in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation. Until 2012, he was a vice-chair of the OECD-DAC-Evaluation Network, representing the network at the annual General Assembly of the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG). (Presentation online PDF)
